Autopay is a bills payment app that enables users pay bills, automate payment for recurring bills, and manage these automations.
I was tasked with proffering a solution to a problem I faced personally, and I decided to come up with a solution to forgetting my bills payment which eventually leads to disconnection from a service. Keeping up with my bills payment such as electricity, cable tv has been a hassle for me and I decided to proffer a solution to tackle this personal issue of mine.
I started with the statement of the problem which are
These were the problems I was facing personally, and turned them into a problem statement. The next thing I did was to validate this problem to see if people actually saw this as a problem or it was just my thing I was experiencing. I conducted a user research and got data that validated auto pay. I also made some assumptions about my proposed solution
These were assumptions I made about the proposed solution. The research methods used were surveys and interviews. I chose these two research methods because they are not capital intensive, and using only surveys wouldn’t cut it because they are always subject to bias. I identified three user segments from the user research and three user personas were drawn to represent each user segment.
Next in line for me was identifying the competition. I made list of all competitors (direct, indirect, substitutes) and I did a swot analysis on them, accessing their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and this informed the value proposition for Autopay.
A user flow was drawn to show how users would navigate Autopay, and also created user stories that showed what users would be able to accomplish with features on Autopay.
I adopted the MoSCoW framework in prioritizing features to be built for Autopay, and this is because various features have different levels of impact, and the MoSCoW framework which represents the definition of whether a feature is a Must Have, Should have, Could have, or Won’t have, allows focus on the most important and impactful features to drive the success of Autopay.
I created a roadmap that informed the design and development of features for Autopay, and it helped in keeping the different teams on track and aligned towards the end goal. I also came up with a Go-To-Market strategy to successfully introduce Autopay to the market.
